HCG Diet Update: Day 13 and counting...

Going strong, but the diet is getting a bit tiresome, but we are hangin' in there. I do have to say, I am proud of all my new found will power, as I have a house full of yummy delicious, unhealthy foods. Like Oreo Cakesters I got Free when you Buy Oreos (Crest Deal) and making dinner for the "brothers" that is what Braddock calls his siblings. Like I made my yummy mexican cassarole, the boys love to eat with chips and tortillas! Oh, it is so good. I did not even have a taste.

I have filled my days with planting, cleaning and laundry! Trying to avoid thoughts of cookies and ice cream.

I do have to say, I have done very well with the planning on this diet round! My dad made smoked salmon and it was fabulous, so I ate that for a few days for lunch. (not on my protocol, but is on his, he is going through a dr. and his list of foods is slight different) My friend came over and we made a few recipes, which helped. Losing 10 pounds in 10 days has been pretty motivating as well. I am counting the weight I was on my first VLCD which was almost 3 pounds higher then my weight before the load days!

Yesterday, I weighted in at 156 and then today at 155.2. This definately inspired me to continue my cookie free days. I have a feelin' this weekend might be doomsville... Wedding on Friday night, and family party at my house on Saturday night! At this rate, I could be at my goal weight of 145 pounds before I end this diet on May 11. I have approximate 11 more days to go, not that I am counting down the days or anything!

HCG Diet Recipe: Mongolian Beef and Cabbage

Here is a recipe that both my hubby and I enjoyed.  It is really easy, just mixing the marinade is a bit time consuming, I made another batch of marinades all at once to be able to use for a quick and easy meal in the future!

Mongolian Beef and Cabbage

Ingredients Include:

100 grams sliced beef ( I  used Sirloin, cut in strips)

Cabbage Strips

½ cup beef broth or water

1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar

3 tablespoons orange juice (optional)(I did not use)

2 tablespoons lemon juice

2 tablespoons Bragg’s liquid aminos (bought at The Health Food Store, in Edmond)

2 cloves garlic crushed and minced

1 tablespoon green onions chopped (I am not mixing onions with my veggies, so I did not use)

¼ teaspoon chili powder or to taste
Salt and Pepper to taste and Stevia to taste

Combine spices into liquid ingredients. In frying pan or wok, stir fry on
high heat to combine flavors and cook beef and cabbage. Add additional
water if necessary to keep dish from burning. Add additional orange slices
for added sweetness if desired. (I did not)

Makes 1 serving (1 protein, 1 vegetable)

Recipe from HCG Gourmet Cookbook

HCG Update: My Journey Continues

Written By Shannon, April 22, 2010

Yesterday, I went to the store, and bought all sorts of spices for Tomato Basil Soup HCG style. Well, it was not as yummy as Inspirations Tea Rooms, because we can add no cream, but it was not to bad.

I will be having it for lunch again today.

Here is my total weight loss this round is 7 pounds, since Monday! WOW.. I did weight extra then normal on Monday, due to my eatting festival over the weekend.

Over night I lost only .8 pounds, but I am getting closet to my goal weight everyday. My goal weight for this round is to be 145. My real goal weight would be 135. I am only 23 pounds away from that number. You know weight loss should be taken in small steps at a time, if I would have said that to be my goal back in November, I would have had such a long way to go. So, I have taken it in small strides. My next step, is to be out of the 150's, and when you go to the doctor's office, they don't have to move that taggle on the scale to the 150 mark!

Good luck to you all who are struggling with weight issues, you can do it too. Have great success, as I have. One thing though, you have to be ready to make the commitment!

Written By Shannon April 23, 2010

Today, I weighted only .2 pounds less then yesterday. I guess that is to be okay, because I have lost over 7 pounds in 5 days. So I will not complain. I am feeling a bit cranky and edgy today, but I kept myself very busy, and got a brief break from my little one, and went to the mall. He hung out with his Aunt Ang, and Uncle Kenny. Played with their dog Yosi, and had tons of fun at Nanas house visiting them all!

Child Development and Art in the Preschool Child

My son had an Art Show today at school, he is quite a simpistic child, but is amazing at the Block Area! Did you know when your children play with blocks, they are learning math skills? I know, pretty amazing. I took a few pictures today, and will have to add more pictures to the story tomorrow.

Enjoy the story, there are some good quotes, and information of the stages of Art and Block development, too.

Coupon Alerts for Fast Fixin Chicken Fried Chicken

Have you heard of Fast Fixin' Chicken Fried Chicken, comes in a red bag in the freezer section of Walmart! We made this the other night for dinner, and it was delicious. Comes with gravy, but you have to make you own mashed potatoes. That is what I do.

So the other night, we had a Fast Classics dinner, and hubby was like this is really good. What is it? I told him, and he was highly impressed. He thought I made it from scratch. LOL. So for a super fast meal, after a baseball game, I was able to make dinner in under 25  minutes, so while the kids cleaned up for dinner, I cooked and in no time dinner was served.

While shopping at Walmart, be on the lookout for Peelie coupons on Fast Fixin' products to save $1/1, and in participating bags there are coupons inside for your future purchase of $2/1 Fast Classics Chicken Fried Chicken.

Facebook Fans Raise Money for The Children's Health Fund

I was able to attend an online briefing about this wonderful program, Connect Kids to Care. I learned so much, about hardaches that families face when they are unable to have proper medical care for their childern, and how important Connect Kids to Care and the Childern's Health Fund is to these families. Here is some more information about this wonderful project. Which was started in NYC, with mobile units that travel to different neighborhoods to help children.

Many of us as parents can make an easy phone call to the doctor if we should have a sick child, but people without the proper health care coverage, are unable to provide proper health care for their children.

Stats show, 1 in 5 children in the U.S. live in poverty with millions of children unable to  access to regular check-ups and important doctor's visits when ill. If important health care visits are missed, then many children go without treatment for even the most common ailments, for example asthma, allergies or cavities, which can lead to bigger problems later on in life if left untreated.

We have a great cause, Children’s Health Fund (CHF), a non-profit organization committed to providing health care to the nation’s most medically underserved children and their families which ha teamed up with Clorox to launch Connect Kids to Care.

As part of Clorox’s commitment to preventive health for families, the company is donating half a million dollars to CHF to help support CHF’s goal of offering half a million health care visits to disadvantaged children across the country, over the next two years.

In addition, Clorox is donating $1.00 for each new ‘fan’ on the Clorox Facebook page, up to $100,000. What an easy way to give, I am sure they will reach this goal in record time!

Do you want to help? There are a few easy ways to help Clorox spread the word.

1. Connect: Visit the Clorox page on Facebook® ( to learn more about the program and become a fan. Clorox will donate $1.00 to CHF for each new fan that joins the Clorox Facebook page from April 2010 and April 2012, up to $100,000.

2. Do you tweet? If so, on April 19 from 9 a.m. ET on. Bloggers and twitter friends may also tweet using the following: Help @Clorox help @chfund provide half a million health care visits to kids in need at #CHFClorox!

3. Share: Help spread the word to friends and family by changing your Facebook status (additional details on

4. Act: Visit the Clorox Facebook page to find out more and learn how a $10 donation can help CHF provide health care to children in need.

To enter my giveaway, tweet  Follow @couponprincess on Twitter and Help @Clorox help @chfund provide half a million health care visits to kids in need and win at #CHFClorox

Please comment and let me know you tweeted, as you will be eligible to win We will a Clorox/Children’s Health Fund gift pack to my  followers that tweet or re-tweet about Connect Kids to Care on April 19! Thanks for your support.

Semi-Homemade Chai Latte

I recently have been hooked on Starbucks Chai Latte's, they are so delicious, but for $3.15 or $3.85 a pc makes it a pretty expensive treat. So one day I was at the grocery store, and found this pack of Chai Tea, that works out pretty well. Brand is Stash, it is $2.99 for a box of 18. I bought the assortment box, but my favorite is the double spice chai.

Here is how I made it:
1 pack of double spice chai tea bag
4 oz of milk (either whole milk or 2 % is best)
8 oz of water

I use my keurig for the water, and use the beverage button on my microwave for the milk.
I let it steep for about 3 to 4 minutes, and mix splenda to taste. I have made it without splenda at first, but the tea was missing the sweet taste of the "sugar" I am very excited to be able to make this at home, and save some cash!

HCG Diet Round 3

I am back talking about diets... the HCG diet that is. So far, my dad has done the diet, lost 41 pounds, my sister has lost over 30 pounds and so has her hubby. This time around my hubby is going to join me. Our first load days will be Saturday and Sunday, and hitting the hard core diet with VLCD (very low calorie diet) on Monday.

Here is an update if you all have been following the diet. I weighted in at 162.8 this morning, so basically have maintained my ending weight within 2.8 pounds. If you recall from previous post, I bombed do to poor planning last round, and cut the diet short by about 10 days! (VLCD lasts 24 days) I totally thought I would have gained back all my weight loss for that round, but luckily I did not. So, that is a huge relief! Read more about the diet etc.. through my HCG diet Journal Pages.

Very excited to document my weight loss journey once again, this time should be interesting, as my husband and I are pretty competitive, so there will be no quitting early.
Subscribe to my blog and get email updates on my journey!

Mother's Day Giveaway and Review

I recieved beautiful flowers from to review and they are beautiful. They were delivered by Fed Ex, in a box, very well put together. Came with a vase and flower food as well. I thought they were going to be delivered by a local flower shop, but they came directly from has great customer service, as the other day, I decided to order flowers for my mother in law, whom was in the hospital and wanted to give a try. I ordered same day delivery, which I guess when you order like that contacts a local floral shop and sends flowers that way! Which I know, because instead of my mother in law getting flowers, they delivered flowers to me instead! So, I called and told them that I had sent flowers back to the flower shop that sent them to me, etc.. and they figured it all out, and resolved all my issues, and were able to get flowers to my mother in law the next day!
Excellent customer service.

Then today, I receive flowers from them! The lily's were not in bloom yet, and the roses are just beautiful. I really love flowers that are a mix, instead of all roses, does have all roses, but I chose the spring mix. The only complaint I have is that I had to play florist and get the flowers arranged in the vase. This is a bit more difficult then I would have excpected. But all is well, and now my hubby thinks I have a secret admirer! (Just kidding)

Do you want to order some flowers today? Go to and sign up for their email and get a discount code for 20% off your order. Email will arrive within a few minutes after submission.

Gardening: What Am I Growing?

Beginning of spring, hubby says, we are not growing a garden this year, there is just to much grass growing in our old garden spot from last year. (He made me move my garden spot of  7 years last year, and I fought with the grass all summer) He said we can just grow some items in the pots on the back patio. I was totally fine with that... FAST FORWARD.....

Last weekend my father stopped by, he loves to work in the yard, however his yard is perfect and he has "workers" that help maintain his yard. Plus he has no room for a garden in the mist of his flower beds and immaculate grass. So, he says to my hubby. No garden, oh yes we are. This is a perfect spot, hardly any grass here. So out comes the rote a tiller that I bought at a garage sale years ago, and several hours later, I have a spot for a garden. Oh, I should say, my dad, has a spot for the garden!

Listen to all we planted, 12 tomato plants, 3 rows of potatoes, numerous pepper plants, onions, egg plant and more! We need to get the cucumbers and green beans in as well. Oh, and more tomato plants. I think h wants me and my mom to learn to can tomatoes or something, not really sure yet.

I just hope I remember to water correctly, and help keep the grass out. So, in 100 days I will have potatoes and tomatoes, until then I must be a patient gardening assisstant.

I still want chickens for my "farm" probably will not happen. I have no idea how to take care of chickens. I just would like fresh eggs! I will keep you posted on the progress.

Product Review: Kids n' Pets Stain Remover

Check this product out here on KIDS 'N' PETS Brand - Stain & Odor Remover, 6 pack, 32 fluid ounce bottles (192 fluid ounces total) you can buy them in bulk which makes them $5 a bottle! Or check them out at Target or Walmart!

I was sent this poduct to revew called Kids n' Pets Instant Stain and odor remover, and have used it a few times as we have a new addition to the family, Brownie our Chiuahau Poodle mix doggie! Some how without realizing it, we added another member to the family with a "B" name. Even our turtle starts with the letter "B" Bobby. Anyways, the Kids n' Pets remover works great. Our little girl has accidents on our carpet only a few times and the spots were cleaned with this product, and she does not go sniffing around that same area to "go again" the smell of the product is fresh too!

Now for stains I had a stain on my carpet, probably from dirt and grime from shoes, I just tried to clean it up and the stain is gone! The carpet smells fresh and not like chemicals. This product is good for all kinds of accidents and not just for pet owners.

Overall I am really impressed with this product and it is enviromentally friendly and can pre treat clothes before you wash them! Can't wait to try it out on my sons baseball uniform!

FREEBIE alert after MIR: Become Kids n' Pets fan on facebook, buy the Kids n' Pets stain remover, fill out mail in rebate form and get a full refund!

Disclosure: I was sent this product to review, all views are my own. I also have linked to my amazon account, so if you order from that link, I will get a small credit for the sale.

A Little of This and a Little of That!

Picture of my boy, after he had a fight with the ground, at the Brothers baseball game! (not as bad as it looks). Braddock loves to hang out and play at around in the dirt at the baseball games! This day, he worked extra hard at playing.
Other pic, Blake, getting ready to bat.

Another activity we have been doing is trying to spring clean. Do you ever feel overwhelmed? Oh my. There is so much to do, and so little time. Oh, and don't get me started about my disorganization with my coupons and pantry right now!

My week has flown by, with Baseball games, a fundraiser banquet for BritVil Food Pantry, (very neat program for the okc neighborhood) and just the regular ins and outs with an almost 4 yo.

Last night when tucking him in bed, I just had to enjoy the moment. We read our 2 books, he reads one that he has memorized to me, and the other is a search and find Toy Story book. We talk about our favorite characters! Before I left the room, he took his light up gun (he got at the circus with his dad) and discovered toys that were in trouble, they were stuck between the wall and the bed! We had to save them tomorrow he said (we have been watching a lot of Toy Story!)

Little memories in the making, it just reminds me how fast the little ones grow up. As my older boys will be freshman and juniors in high school next year. ( Hey.. I am so not old enough for that!) Time flies when your having fun!

Oh, and stay tuned hubby and I are both starting the HCG diet soon, me for the 3rd attempt and his first. So we will be having some serious competion I am sure! This will probably be happening April 19 ish. Stay tuned for results. In the mean time, I might have to eat Braum's hot fudge sundaes, Sushi, and Taco Bell, and drink Chai Tea from Starbucks! LOL... some of my fav things.

Shopping After Holidays: Top 5 Tips for Great Deals

I thought I would give you all some tricks to after the Holidays shopping. As you know, Easter was today, and tomorrow several stores will put items at 50% off tomorrow.

Target, Walgreens, and CVS are good ones that most of the time go 50% off the day after the Holidays.

Here is my top things to look for when shopping.

1. Candy, Candy, Candy.. Use coupons to make these even cheaper.

2. Items like Glad, ziplock, that have the Holiday designs.

3.  Toys, yes.. there are toys that go 50% off. Like themed toys that were holiday specific, I have seen legos, (small packs) pototoe head, hand held games and more.

4.  Food items, with holiday packaging. Like cookies, chips, and candy sometimes found in odd places through out the store, price check to see if these are marked down.

5.  Paper goods, like napkins, paper towels, and paper plates!

Coupons can be matched for even deeper discounts. If you wait for even a few more days after the holidays, the price will drop 75%, and then eventually 90%.

April Fools Day Memories

Some of the best things happen on April Fools day, a day beyond practical jokes along the lines, there is a spider on your head.. April Fools. LOL.

Today would have been a day at Shogun's with my whole extended family as we would celebrate at 2 huge party tables with a live cooking show done by the best chef's in town, serving fresh cooked chicken from my Papa's Chicken Plant, Country Squire in OKC. But we will not be going there to celebrate my Papa's birthday as he is no longer with us. I always remember his Birthday there and all the fun memories we shared as a family an extended family that others thought was so odd that we were so close.

Well time moves on, and we don't all get together as we should. We all grow old, families expand, there is new births, new marriages, and life does move on. The above picture was taken at one of the celebrations at Shogun's it is not the best picture, but it is of my late papa, the wonderful man that always loved his oldest granddaughter (me) the one that will never know my littlest boy, who I know he would have adored.

On the funnier side of memories, well today is the day my husband Jeremy, started working for my dads roofing company, in 1993. He is still there today, I would have never known this was his start date, but he likes to remind me of his workiversery. Which by the way, he has not reminded me about this yet today. I wonder if he will? So, jokes on him as he is still working there today. Working hard I might add, in order for me to raise our 3 boys. Have a great April Fools Day, and don't be fooled by those ole' tricks.

Rice Krispies Recipe Challenge

Here is my envision for Rice Krispies...

Make Rice Krispies with flavored marshmellows instead of plain ones, and add skittles to the mixture. This will add color, chewy texture and some frutity flavor.

Testing...  to follow. Until then, check out my post on the Original Rice Krispies creation here.. having surgery and lack of energy being zapped out of me, has caused major delay in my Rice Krispie Productivity. Hey shows I am a real mom! LOL..
