Boy am I Tired...

Before I forget, I am not tired because I was partying the weekend away at Blogher. Read this post to here all about my nonblogher fun. After my super dee duper fun weekend at the lake, I am ready for a nice long sleep tonight in my own bed. But wait, my stinker of a 3 yo, that has been having bed withdrawls ever since we took his baby bed away, 4 months ago, is sleeping in my bed right now, with his dad. What in the world, that will not be a good night sleep, as last night he slept above me in the bed crossways all night. I was all worried that he was going to wake up in the strange place and not go back to sleep, and then I would be so stuck, stressed out, and exhausted. Thank goodness that did not happen, he slept until 9 this morning which was fabulous.

Oh, and guess what I got to do today, I drove a four wheeler, and survived. I made sure I did not have to make any reverse moves, and followed hubby around our friends property, checking out the nature. We looked for deer, or any other animials, but none where found.

But our sons, the older ones, went fishing and caught some huge fish. My oldest son made an awesome video, I will go see if I can find it and post it.

Oh, and I am tired, 3yo is now up, and I need to go get him to sleep now in his own bed, wish me luck!

What's Happening Here

Well, here is a little bit of my daily life with 3 boys.. I feel like there is way to many of them running around here lately. Teenage hormones are ranging, preschooler who is to young for most things, whining and through tantrums until someone around here gives in. Another teen, that is way to quiet at times, and is working most of the summer. Life with boys, who would of thought. I come from a housefull of girls.

Here is a funny little story about my 3yo, he comes up with the craziest stories. Here is one from yesterday.

Setting:
So, he is in the bathroom, standing up to pee over the toliet of course.

Dialogue:
Son: Awe man, I am out of Amo..
Mom: Amo, what amo?
Son: My pee, it is all gone.
Mom: Yes it is.
Son: Now I cannot get those bad guys. (speaking of imaginary items, as there was nothing in the toliet to get!)

He gives us tons of laughs around here. He has the most active imagination of any of our 3 boys. He keeps me on my toes.

This weekend, we are going back to the lake, that is what we do here in the middle of the US, we have lakes, you may have a beach.. but we have fresh lake water! Thank goodness I will be going there, to the beach soon as well!

So we will pile in the diesel, 3 yo will really like that, and mosey on down to the lake. It is about 2 1/2 hour drive and we will get to stay the night at a friends house there. Good thing we will not be tent camping, not that tent camping is bad, I actually like it, but it is way to hot to sleep outside this time of year.

Best of all is that we get to use our boat. The lovely thing we only get to see a few times a year, with hubby's hectic work schedule. So we are happy to have a weekend as a family at the lake, with no computer, no distractions, and limited T.V. watching. Off, I go for now.. better get productive around here!

My Oklahoma Favorites....

I know, some people do their my favorite things post, and today I am going to share with you all my Oklahoma favorites. I was not paid, given, bribed or anything to write this post, but my love for these places led me to share, so this is some great stuff for anyone new to Oklahoma. Here we go..

Restaurants my favorites.. drum roll...

Eishen's in Okarche (Country Squire, my papa's chicken distribution center sells them their great chicken, he is now passed on but I do think of him when I eat Chicken!)

Johnnies Charcol Burger's,(OKC)I do have to say the Johnnies Express are not quite as good as the ole' Johnnies on Britton Road though. I have great memories there, ate there for lunch when I was in high school often, before football games on Friday nights, and we would "caravan to the high school" before the games and we would begin at Johnnies!

Old School Bagel Cafe,(OKC) this is a newbie to Oklahoma, reminds me again of high school, when we used to have a "bagel shop" very similar to this one! Oh, and they are making a shop really close to where I live too, opening in about 2 weeks!

Flat Tire Burgers, near UCO campus, has some of the yummiest burgers in town, and a smores kit to make your own smores at the table!

Mexican Food lovers.. Ted's is the best. My favorite dish there is the Fajita Chicken Enchilada's, and for you Texan's Oklahoma's Mexican Restaurants serve cheese dip free! (well at least free at most)

501 Cafe, this is a great spot for lunch. Yummy salads, like the Pear Salad is the best.

Hideaway Pizza, another Oklahoma great! Best Pizza, just a bit different then your usual take out pizza. It is terrific!

Now for some MIO (Made in Oklahoma musts, will buy even without a coupon!)

Griffin's Syrup
Head and Country BBQ sauce
Fast Fixin's Chicken Fried Steak
Red Hot Lover, Prairie Gypsies pepper jelly

Well this is it, this concludes some of my favorites, from the Great State of Oklahoma!

How do you Buy Milk?

Here is a little story about me and my milkman. So, I drive my car 3 miles up the road to my neighborhood Homeland to buy milkie.. (name my 3yo calls it) and get in the parking lot with my few coupons and realize, I left my wallet at home. So, what do I do now? Here are my choices:

1. Go home, get money, drive back.
2. Count money in my change compartment in my car.

So, I chose number 2. I count my change, and come up with $1.37. So, I take my coupon for my toothbrush, (will give overage) and go look for the cheapest vitamin D whole milk on the shelf. Humm.. smallest is $1.37, (we pay tax on food here in OK, and that is exactly how much I had) but wait, I see my milkman, (guy in charge of dairy) he knows me, as I am in the store often. So I proceed to look for the milk that is expiring soon, and low and behold, I find some that expires tomorrow, Hiland brand, not even the store brand! So, I share my story with him, and he takes my milk to the back and slaps a sticker on it for .99! Yippee.. he also shared with me that if I keep my fridge on 38 degrees,(that info was shared with me during a previous visit) my milk will stay a few days longer then expiration dates!

So, my story ends, with a toothbrush, a gallon of milk, for .92... Don't be afraid to get to know your workers at your favorite store you shop at, it pays to know your Milkman!

Homeland Deals with Coupon Match Up 7/15

This week is a huge week for Homeland, it is a BOGO week! So bare with me as I figure out the solo prices.. because at Homeland, they sale products 1/2 off when they are BOGO, so you don't have to end up with 2 of the same items.

I am late posting because this BOGO sale is really messing me up with original prices and how much things are. In the ad, the prices state save up to... when you buy 2... so that is what I will write after items listed! Possibly take the price give on BOGO and divide by 2 and get price, but I am still not quite sure, because I remember doing that once before and I was way wrong.. *Sigh*

KLOVE: Jon and Sherry Rivers Letter

I love listening to KLOVE, and on my way to take the boys to school, I would listen to Jon and Sherry in the morning as Sherry would take little Lexi to school, and I would take my sons to school, it was a good ritual, nice music, no commercials, and a conversation starter at times. Well, one day they disappeared from the radio channel, no warning, just gone. Family matter, they were gone.. and left us all to speculate what could of happened. Rumors, about Lexi, Sherry, Jon can all rest aside, there is a letter at KLOVE, there is the link. Just to let you know, before you read, Lexi and Sherry are great, buy Jon is battling a Substance Abuse problem. He is doing much better now, please go ahead and grab some tissue and read the letter. Thanks Jon and Sherry for allowing us in your world, I am glad you all have found peace.

Downy Quilts for Kids Project: Downy Touch of Comfort

I am pleased to announce that myself and Melissa, The Consumer Queen will be participating the "Quilts for Kids" project sponsored by Downy. On Saturday, July 11, 2009, Downy is traveling to Tulsa to distribute over a 100 quilts, made by volunteers like you, to kids at the The Children's Hospital of St. Francis in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

All 3 of my children, love their blankies. My husband still has his special Mickey Quilt blanket, and we even sleep with it to this day. My 3yo has 2 blankies, one is his big blankie and the other is his little blankie. My 13 yo has his own blankie, and my 16 yo... well he has finally out grown his! So, we at the Snow Family, love our blankies! (that spelling looks weird, but I am going with it)

You can read more about the program, how it got started and see how many children Downy Blesses with Quilts since 2000!

Their main site, is featured here, at Downy Touch of Comfort and see how you can help with this project in your community. Click on the "How to Help" Section, there are many ways to show your support, and help these children in need.

Chandra Wilson, the Grey's Anatomy star is their spokesperson for this wonderful cause. Thanks for reading and learning about this wonderful program.

Recipe: Quick and Easy Beer Bread

Beer Bread

I was given this recipe from a friend, awhile back. I do not know the original source. This is absolutely delicious, cheap and easy.

Ingredients

3 cups of Self-Rising Flour (this is not regular flour, I repeat, not regular flour)
1/3 cup of sugar
1 can of beer (just any kind)

Mix those 3 things up in a glass bowl, with a regular spoon. Pour in a loaf pan, let rise about 30 minutes. Put in preheated oven, 350 degrees, for an hour. That is it.. you will love it, your friends will love it, and you will want to make it again and again.

For different flavor, add cheese, and or other spices. I normally just make the bread plain. I also think you can use milk, instead of beer. But do not know the ratio, I am guessing about a cup.

Sunday Coupons: Proctor and Gamble

I woke up to a beautiful Sunday morning, and was thinking I would find no coupons today, due to the holiday weekend, but I guess July 4th holiday is an exception to the rules. Today in my local paper, was the Proctor and Gamble insert. Which does come out once a month typically in the first Sunday paper of the month, which happens to be today. Game Factory Games: Wii Rubiks World Review

I was sent this game Rubiks World for the Wii, from GameFactoryGames for my son to try out! Go ahead, check the Game Factory Games website out, and have soome fun.

Here is a bit what my son had to say about this fun and yet challenging game.
When I asked him the ages he thinks the game would be best for he replied, "7 and up." Even better, the game is rated E, for Everyone. However, this game is not a game that you play and win the first day, it takes time, therefore the younger crowd may get frustrated with playing this game! There are many choices of games you can play within the game. Some of his favorites were the Construction and the Fits section of the game. The Rubiks section where you solve the Rubiks Cube is very difficult and still is not completed by my son! I asked my son who he would recommend this game to, and he said anyone that likes challenging puzzle games, that requires using thinking skills.

As a parent, I think this game is a great game for kids, it requires abstract thinking, and problem solving. Math skills are needed to conquer this game, and the child will learn math through this game, the non traditional way.
